Bedroom window repair

We are blessed with two large windows facing east in the master bedroom. Once we had all of the plaster and lath removed on the inside, we found that the second window must have been added sometime later – which we don’t mind.

Except, similar to the basement front door, the masonry work around the added window was shoddy. The rough brick opening was – well – very rough indeed, littered with cracks and air gaps.

The four by six old growth header on the inside was resting on the brick by barely two inches on either side – which doesn’t make for a very effective header. The outside has only a one row segmental brick arch header, comparable to the kitchen back door.

Time to fix this sucker, before it gets covered in spray polyurethane foam.

I managed all repairs on the inside. The problem is that the outside brick opening needs the same attention – including the segmental brick arch header. Well, that will be a job for next spring, once it stops freezing.

    Nice time-lapse illustrative effect there.
